Colibrí Home – Concept for Colibrí3D ft. Emerge México
March 2015
Back in 2015, before graduating from University in Monterrey, I was invited by Emerge Mx (in their previous format) to design what was aiming to become the «cheapest mexican 3D printer» for Colibrí 3D, a pioneering company in Mexico specialized in this kind of technologies. Our concept was developed to look less edgy or «techy» such as many 3D printers in the market, but smoother and closer to a home décor object. Sadly, our concept didn’t make it to mass production for reasons I’m not aware of but Colibrí 3D presented a prototype of it during the XX Congress of High Technology Industries (XX Congreso de la Industria de Alta Tecnología) in August 2015 getting a lot of attention. The company did develop a commercial version based on the same platform we did, but faraway aesthetically. A big learning for all of us on many topics.
